First Impressions

Last month was my Hubs' birthday. I am friends with some of his friends from childhood on facebook.  One of them contacted me, and said she had birthday gift for him, and to keep it a surprise.

We arranged to meet. Thankfully it was on a day that Hubs was working; I might have had trouble explaining exactly why I needed to go to Stewarts at a certain time that day. It was very exciting for me to finally meet someone who knew Hubs when he was a child. His mom wouldn't talk about it. She had no stories for me of any cute things he did, or trouble he got into.

I'm afraid I was a little over excited when I met up with her that day. Sometimes I tend to do that. I might have come off as a little hyper. But I was so excited. I realized shortly afterwards that that was how I had appeared. And I feel bad that I made a non-favorable first impression. I would like to become friends with this woman, and possibly meet other people from Hubs' past. She was very nice, after all. And if she's reading this, I hope she sends me another personal message and gives me another chance.

Sara Found Some Old Photos!

I know I promised you guys a good photo of my dad, well I didn't have one. But it looks like my daughter Sara did! She posted a bunch of photos on facebook last night, so I put some in my computer's photo files.

Here is an early one, my parent's wedding photo! January 22, 1955!

And another wedding photo, this one is Sara and grandpa at the wedding of my friends, Beth and Tim. September, 1978:

At least that's what I think. If I'm wrong, I'll let you know! This next one is my favorite of Sara, she was so freaking cute!

The only other photo of her I liked this much, she was running down the hall in a dorm at Potsdam State, with a beer in her hand!

Sharing a Childhood Memory

Again yesterday, I had nothing to say. I'm sorry about that. At least on Wednesday, I had a back up post ready to go! I had written about the hedgehogs weeks ago, and was saving it for a day when I had nothing. Who knew I would have nothing for two days in a row??

This morning, as I lay in bed, I was thinking. I seem to be very aware of what time it is when I do things. Even what time I go to sleep. The first thing I do when I wake up is look and see what time it is. Anyway, as I lay in bed this morning, I think I figured out why I'm like that.

When I was in second grade, I think it was, I remember the teacher bringing out the big cartoon looking clock. I even remember her name, it was Miss Bosco. She was about to teach us how to tell time. For some reason, I had no desire to learn this, so I paid attention for a little while, but soon I was staring out the window. It all went in one ear and out the other.

So I didn't learn to tell time. I got away with not knowing for at least three years. At some point, my parents must have figured it out, because for my birthday just before sixth grade, I got a watch. So I sort of had to learn. Today, I am very grateful for their gift. I figure that's why I am kind of obsessed with time, and what time things happen.
