This morning I knit about six rows on the Super Secret Project. That's all I could manage. You see, last night I didn't sleep. At all. I just laid there listening to the crickets, the stream rushing by, and the occasional car driving by the house. I think I finally fell asleep sometime after Hubs' alarm went off at 5:30. And I woke up a little after 7.
So today I'm extremely grumpy. I really did knit, at least until I didn't trust myself with it any more. I even tried to nap, since my favorite napping conditions were happening. Mainly, it was raining. I love to nap listening to the rain. I also love when it rains at night. But after about half an hour it became clear that I wasn't going to get a nap. I felt completely awake again.
I have done laundry which requires going up and down the stairs, I washed all the dishes. All that's left is to get the clothes out of the dryer, and fold and put them away. There's no guarantee I won't collapse at some point before Hubs gets home from work. But he knows I didn't sleep, so he'll understand.

The lost ribbon yarn
A few years ago, someone gave me a bunch of balls of a ribbon yarn. I put it away in a really good place. Once in a while, I would see it in it's bag, while moving it to get to something else.
This past week, while not crafting, I've had the urge to find this ribbon yarn and knit it up with big needles. Just so I can say I'm making something. So far, I have been so far unsuccessful in my quest. But after Hubs goes back to work on Tuesday, I will have time once again to actually look.
I find that I'm getting a bit excited about this possible project. I will take a photo or two once I find it and get going.
Today it rained, after being hot and very humid. Thank the Goddess that it cooled off. During a lull in the down pouring, I went to the supermarket to pick up a few things. While I was in there, it started raining really hard again. I could hear it on the roof of the store. After I checked out, I joined the crowd of people who didn't want to run to their cars in the really heavy rain.
After a while it let up, so I made my way to the Jeep. Just as I was a step or two away from the passenger door, it started raining really hard again! So I got wet. Oh well, it had to happen. I don't mind me getting wet, I just didn't want my groceries to get wet. In fact, earlier in the day, I was swimming in the rain. Of course there was no thunder at that time. It was just plain rain.
We've had so much rain today that the extra water has filled up our pool to the top of the skimmer. My friend Bonny's pool was threatening to overflow, and they had to pump off quite a bit of water. Maybe tomorrow I'll tell you all about the pool trauma we had this year.

A couple of thoughts...
First, I am making progress on the second of the three cat beds for Sara's cats. It's been very different for me. It took me a while to figure out how to make the sides stand up without crocheting wire into it. So far, it's working.
The second thought has to do with the weather. It rained all day yesterday, and all night last night. It was still raining a little bit this morning. As of right now, we've only had about 4 hours of the sun shining. Not long enough to dry the wetness of the grass.
Which beings me to the point. I was sitting here, having my coffee when I heard a lawnmower running. I sat here, thinking about all the rain we had. I wasn't surprised to hear the mower keep cutting out, restarting, then cutting out again. It's very clear to me that this man and his family aren't from around here, they are city folks. Hopefully he figured out that it's counterproductive to try to mow wet grass.
It reminds me of the time when a couple from New York City moved in next door to my ex in-laws. After the husband mowed the back yard, he took the cut grass an spread it all over the front yard. He thought it would sprout roots and grow there.
And another couple who moved into the neighborhood that put their garbage out, and wondered why it didn't get picked up. They didn't know that outside of NYC, you have to pay for that service. When my family moved into our house in Wappingers Falls, in 1969, there was a thing called the Welcome Wagon. A person came to your house to welcome you to the town or neighborhood. They had all kinds of information you needed, such as the garbage thing, and coupons for local stores, They gave us all kinds of neat stuff.
Doesn't this organization exist any more? These days, it's needed more than ever, in my opinion.

Random thoughts...
I am full of random thoughts tonight, I thought I'd share some with you!
1. There was once a movie called Sharkboy and Lavagirl. I remember it specifically because the kids that starred in it, the boy and the girl, were both named Taylor. And now this boy is mostly grown up, and he stars in "Twilight" as Jacob the werewolf. His name is Taylor Lautner. It rang a bell in my brain when I was watching something show business related, and Mark Wahlberg said that Taylor is the biggest new hunk in Hollywood... Why does no one remember this earlier role? I'd like to watch it again, and see how he's changed.
2. I ran out of purple yarn today before finishing my shawl. I was greatly bummed. I had no desire to go and spend $10 for another skein, just to use a small portion of it. But I went to Michaels this afternoon, encurring my husbands wrath. I also went to Stop n Shop, so I was killing two birds with one stone. When I returned home, Hubs informed me that I better put the top back up on my Jeep at the next opportunity, from which I gathered that he would not be letting me use his truck on rainy days anymore. Some times men can be such assholes. But he's in a much better mood now, since he retrieved the memory card from one of his field cameras, and there were pictures of some really awesome deer on it!
3. I also used Hubs' truck this morning to go to spinning group at the library in Clinton. I had a really good time! There were lots of people there this month, so there was lots of lively conversation. It was so good to see Terry and Denise! I brought Denise her order from Pampered Chef, And she was so excited to get it!
4. I am so very sick and tired of all this rain. It feels like any minute now, Noah is gonna pull up in back of our house in the ark, and tell us it's time to go! I am beginning to feel like Swamp Thing, covered in green stuff that's growing on me. I will be so glad to see the sun when it finally comes back!
5. My daughter and son-in-law celebrated their 1st anniversary yesterday. They went to Cape Cod, and I guess it's raining there too. Poor babies, they will have to stay in! I wonder what they will find to keep themselves occupied? Could a grandbaby come out of this trip??? Hmmm?
6. I want to knit some more!!!
