To storm or not to storm...

    All day, I've been waiting for these "severe" storms to hit our area. I love me a good thunderstorm. The energy is absolutely invigorating. When I went out earlier, I saw dark clouds to the north, I figured Staatsburg and Rhinebeck were getting stormed on.


    So I came home and waited some more. There was a nice breeze blowing, so I pulled the curtains back from our front windows. It actually got kind of dark for a while, and I heard one rather loud, ominous thunder boom. But that was all we got.


    It's now just after 6 pm, and although it did thunder again, it still hasn't let loose on my quaint little town. Every once on a while my Weather Channel app on my laptop lets out a thunder boom, just to let me know that it's possible for a storm to hit us.
You will forgive me if I don't hold my breath.

preparing for the worst

    I hear that there's a big winter snow storm coming, it's supposed to hit us tomorrow. The amount of snow we are supposed to get keep varying, hour by hour. I prefer to take a wait and see attitude.


    With a small amount of money left in my wallet, I headed to the supermarket to see what I could afford to purchase. I came home with 10 rice side dish packets, 10 noodle side dish packets, and a 3 pack of scotch-brite sponge thingies I use to wash the dishes. We really needed new ones. The side dishes were on sale, 10 for $10.


    When I got home, I parked my beloved Jeep as close to the tree box in front of our house as I could, allowing for minimum fuss with the street and our driveway being plowed. If you park too close to the road, the town plows will end up covering your vehicle with the road snow, making it twice as hard for you to get out.


    That is assuming I don't need to go anywhere else before the snow starts tomorrow morning. If I do, I will just park close to the tree box again. But I'm not planning on going anywhere.


    If, by some odd chance, we should lose power, we have a gas powered camping coffee maker we bought after the outage that knocked out the whole bleeding northeast. I don't remember what year that was. Coffee was the one thing I truly missed at that time. I remember, before that, seeing the coffee maker in a camping store, and laughing at it. I wasn't laughing when I made Hubs buy us one!


    So here I am, digging in and waiting for the worst. Hopefully the anticipation will be worse than the actual storm.

hope I'm not boring you!

    Much more progress on the sweater since my last post! Yesterday afternoon, I did the neckline/collar, and it came out really well. I am pleased, to say the least.

    This photo really shows what the color of the yarn looks like, at least it's the closest of all the photos, so far. The others look too blue.

 

 

Now here's a photo of the whole sweater, with the beginnings of the left sleeve:

 

 

    I'm really zooming along now! Although I may have to put the sleeve stitches on double points when it gets smaller. The pattern says to use two circ's, but I don't know that method. Even though I'm not all that comfortable with DP's, as long as it's started, I can manage. Like when I used them to finish the hats I made. I was prouder of that accomplishment than of making a whole cardigan!   

 

 

   Hubs and I were going to go to Sam's club today, but the weather isn't co-operating. So we stay home, and think warm thoughts. Perhaps we can go Thursday, his next day off. I hope so.

 

                                    

 

 

Note to Self...

    It seems that people are taking this hurricane seriously. Even though it remains up in the air which way it will end up going, it's better to be prepared. Either way, we are probably gonna get blasted. It just remains to be seen how hard we get hit.


    So my note to self reads: Do Not Try to Go Grocery Shopping When a Hurricane is Forecast in the Near Future.....


   The fracking supermarket was packed. There were people everywhere. I have never seen the store so crowded before! And the lines? They were long and s l o w  m o v i n g.... I thought I was never gonna get outta there!


    But I made it home, and now I have to start dinner. You all stay safe!
