The highs and the lows

    All weekend, I was really looking forward to going to Kingston with Hubs. We were going to hit Walmart, Sam's Club, Gander Mt., and Michaels. I wanted to hit that Michaels in particular because the last time I was there, They had the yarn I want to use to make a baby thing for the new grandbaby. I didn't buy it then because we didn't know the sex of the baby yet and I wanted to wait until we knew for sure.


    So now we know it's a boy, and I'm ready to start knitting. We go to Walmart first, Hubs needs new jeans. Then at long last I get to go to Michaels, while he's in Gander Mt. I search the whole fracking store. Not only do they not have the yarn they had for the baby stuff, they don't even have any JIFFY that I want for my arm warmers. I walk over to Gander Mt, practically in tears. I tell Hubs I'll be waiting in the truck. He is outta there in less than a minute. (that was the low...)


    We finally get to Sam's Club. We got the most awesome Rib Eye steaks from there last time, they were the best steaks I've ever made at home. We were there for more of those, as well as a few other things. As we wandered through the store, I spy with my little eye the most awesomely colorful display. I go over to it, and it's a display of brightly colored coffee makers and toasters. They come in red, blue, bright pink, yellow, orange, purple and more!


    Hubs actually let me get a coffee maker! I am so happy that I now have a purple coffee maker. I took a couple of photos of it, on my counter, which is not cleaned off, so don't pay attention to anything but the awesome coffee maker...

    Isn't that cool? Behind it is my red rice cooker that my son Jesse got me for Christmas a few years ago. He really likes sticky rice. I don't think I've used it since he moved out last year.


    I can't wait to get the coffee maker all clean and use it. I have to read the manual yet....


    As for the yarn, I will be making a trip to my local Michaels to look for the yarn I wanted. Maybe even tomorrow. If I can find some gas money....

Dang it all

   Well, dang it all, I missed another fracking day. I was busy again yesterday. Hubs decided to go down to the house in Fishkill, and I was going with him. He thought I should go to mom's and help her pack more. He was right, as usual. So he dropped me off, and we got some more packing done.


    After he picked me up again, we went shopping at Sam's Club. There were some things we were running low on. We ended up spending more than I thought, so I decided not to ask for more pistachio nuts. He noticed, and mentioned it. I told him I felt bad about the cost of our purchases, and he said it would have been OK. I really don't need to have them, anyway. The granola diet seems to be working.


   I've also been so busy, I haven't had time to take any photos! And it looks like I'll be busy the rest of the week too. Tomorrow is mom's moving day, so I'm expected there most of the day. Thursday I have an MRI scheduled. And Friday, all I have is Stitch n Bitch, but anything could change at the last minute.


    As for my crafting, I got a lot of knitting done this morning, when I escorted my friend's mom to the doctors office. Their car has broken down. After that, I picked Bonny up and we went down to the craft store, where I got some yarn to make my mom a half circle crocheted rug, for in front of her sink in the new apartment. I have started it already. I was going to use a P size hook, but it was too loose. So I went down to an N size. Still too loose for me. I ended up with a K size. And I am using two strands of cotton yarn. I like it better now, it's tighter, still soft and a bit cushy.


    Hopefully one of these next few days I won't be too busy, and I can finally take some photos! Let's all keep our fingers crossed!

an active day

    This morning, after our coffee, Hubs and I went to see a lawyer. It was a satisfactory visit. I now have lots of forms to fill out, and get back to them.


    From there, we drove down to Fishkill, and I got to hang out at the house with Julie and the kittehs, Gizmo and the Lady. Am I the only one who thinks that the Lady and the Dude should get together?


    I got to hang out, and work on my sweater, while Hubs played the good landlord and fixed the leaky faucet/pipe in the downstairs bathroom. I got nearly four decrease repeats done on my second sleeve!


    After that, Hubs and I went shopping at Sam's Club. Very satisfactory day, all in all.

hope I'm not boring you!

    Much more progress on the sweater since my last post! Yesterday afternoon, I did the neckline/collar, and it came out really well. I am pleased, to say the least.

    This photo really shows what the color of the yarn looks like, at least it's the closest of all the photos, so far. The others look too blue.

    I'm really zooming along now! Although I may have to put the sleeve stitches on double points when it gets smaller. The pattern says to use two circ's, but I don't know that method. Even though I'm not all that comfortable with DP's, as long as it's started, I can manage. Like when I used them to finish the hats I made. I was prouder of that accomplishment than of making a whole cardigan!   

 

 

   Hubs and I were going to go to Sam's club today, but the weather isn't co-operating. So we stay home, and think warm thoughts. Perhaps we can go Thursday, his next day off. I hope so.

 

                                    

 

 

My yarn's here / A promise kept

   Apparently, my yarn was delivered yesterday. Unfortunately, it was delivered to the house in Fishkill. I swear, I changed the delivery address when I ordered it! Anyway, we had to go down to Fishkill today anyway, so I was able, at long last, to get my yarn in my hands!


    I had a picture, but the computer isn't cooperating tonight. Hopefully, I will be able to add it at a later time. I am so excited to finally get my yarn! So far, I'm keeping to my word about finishing the Gamer Gloves before casting on the sweater. SO FAR.....


    As to the promise I kept, Hubs and I got an awesome Schwinn LowriderTricycle for grandson Mason for Christmas. When we were all leaving my brother's house, his big sister Chloe asked if she could have one too. I told her I would look for one, and if one was to be had, G-pa and I would get it for her.


    Today, as we shopped in Sam's Club, they had some!! This is the first time we'd seen them since before Christmas. So now Chloe has a cute, pink, low rider, and Mason has his red one. I brought it to her this afternoon. She was thrilled! I got to spend a few hours with my grandkids, they are so cute.


   Next time I go visit, I'll bring my camera, so I can get photos to show you. If the laptop decides to cooperate.

Today's Doings

    Today was a nice day, spent for the most part with Hubs. We watched TV in the morning, then he went to the garage to try and fix the generator. He was unsuccessful, so he came up and looked up "generator repair shops" on google.


   He found one, relatively nearby, and the woman on the phone was very pleasant, and helpful. Since the generator is very heavy, he had to ask Jesse to come by and help him put it in the truck bed. Then we were off to the repair shop.


    He had talked this morning about going to Kingston, which means visiting Sam's Club. But after dropping the generator off, he just wanted to shower, have lunch and relax. So we did. Perhaps we can visit Sam's sometime over the weekend.


    I haven't crocheted much today, I have no excuses. But I will get more done by Saturday, when I will be seeing Sara, and going to her house. I want to get an idea of the size of the thumb hole, which is best done in person. Hopefully her Hubs will be around for that.


    I can now feel the holiday spirit rising in me. It hasn't in a long time. I finally got to discuss with Hubs the family dinner arrangements. Since Christmas is so early in the week this year, we will have our dinner the weekend before the holiday, instead of after. Hopefully everyone will be able to make it.


    Let the shopping begin! Actually, I have started. There's one gift that's on it's way to me. I ordered it on cyber Monday. Yup, I participated, for once. But I refused to leave my house on Black Friday. I wouldn't even go to the mall to pick up my paycheck. I will go this Friday, though, and get both.

Sam's Club, Part II

     Oh yes, there's more. First, though, let me state that I remembered the third thing on my short list. It was rawhide treats for the dog next door. Hubs had asked the owner if it was OK, and he said yes. So that was on the list.


    Anyway, there we were, wandering around Sam's Club. And after we found the pickles, Hubs discovered a display of nacho cheese sauce. Now, keeping in mind that we don't eat nachos on a regular basis, why would we want the stuff? Apparently Hubs decided we needed this item. He put the following in our cart... I put the DVD next to it, for size comparison.

   The funny part is that he tries to convince me it's a good purchase by telling me that he looked at the smaller cans, and they were more expensive in the long run. Forget the fact with that a couple more of these cans, we could fill the hot tub!


     In small print, at the bottom of the can, you can see the weight. I took another photo, just of that, so you can all see what I am dealing with.

         And the best part of all this? I read the label after we got home, and the serving size is 1/4 cup, and it has 630 mg of sodium in it. My Hubs is supposed to be lowering his sodium consumption, not elevating it to stroke levels. So I have no idea what we will do with this giant can of nacho cheese sauce. But it was a bargain at only $5!!

A Visit to Sam's Club, OR, How to Totally Skeeve Your Hubs

    Yesterday, we visited Sam's Club. I had a short list of stuff we needed, I really only wanted some of their fresh rolls to have with our BBQ dinner. As usual, Hubs had other ideas. He always complains that he can't walk out of that store for less than $200. It really is his own fault.


    I wanted three things: the rolls, pistashio nuts, and one other thing that I can't remember right now. I do remember that we got everything on my list. As we were wandering through the store, I spotted giant jars of pickles. Great big, dill pickles.


    Now, knowing how my beloved Hubs feels about pickles, I haven't eaten one in a least 20 years. To be fair, I feel about egg salad the way he feels about pickles. And I refuse to make it for him. So we have both given up something we loved.


    Anyway, I can rarely resist a chance to mess with him. I pointed out the jars of pickles, and asked if I could get one. He totally surprised me when he said yes! So into basket went the pickles. He was totally skeeved about the whole thing, shuddering convincingly. I made sure he had to handle the jar and put it on the belt at the checkout, then again by putting it back in the cart!


    After we got home, he made me carry it in from the truck. And later that night, we discussed what he called The Pickle Rules. I am only allowed to eat them on nights when he is working, and before 8 p.m. That way the smell has almost 12 hours to dissipate.


    To be totally truthful, I will eat the dang things whenever the heck I want to.

Plans Changed, What We Did Instead!

   I hate when it happens, but Hubs changed his mind about going to cousin Gary's house for the pig roast. I realized about noon that he was inventing things to do, so as not to attend, so I let him off the hook.


    The good news is that we ended up going to Kingston, to Sam's Club, and bought some cool stuff. All of it was absolutely essential, believe me. Except that they didn't have any Kindle Fires. But that would've been essential too. Essential for my happiness!


    First we went to Pop's Tattoo Emporium and showed my idea for my tattoo to Cookie, my favorite tattoo artist, and friend and bandmate of my favorite son-in-law.
My appointment is on Tuesday, August 7th at 5 p.m. I have already asked Hubs if he will take some photos, since it's not exactly feasible for me to take them, of me getting my own tattoo.


    So look for that post! I'm very excited about it. I've decided to get this:

   I am just not sure what colors to fill it with! Here is what it looks like with some color, I'm thinking purple and red...

   
    What a difference some color makes, huh! I would want the circle red, and the rest in purple. I think. I don't have to decide until after the outline is done, Cookie says. So there's no rush.

Exploring Sam's Club

    There we were, Hubs and I, in Kingston exploring Sam's Club. I quickly discovered that they do not sell yarn. They lost me. I doubt I will ever go there unless accompanying Hubs.


    That being said, we are now the proud owners of a new 42" LCD TV for our bedroom. Yes, it's bigger than the one it's replacing. But it's smaller than the one Hubs wanted to buy! All I can say is thank the Goddess he came to his senses and realized that a 47" TV is waaaay to big for our bedroom.


    Then yesterday, Hubs took our old cable boxes back and exchanged them for new ones. Smart move! It seems our old boxes, while not really that old, were like dinosaurs! So everything is all hooked up in both the living room and bedroom. It turns out that the picture on the new TV is the best picture we have ever seen on any TV!  Now I am having trouble getting Hubs to come out of the bedroom. I may never see him again, except for when I go to bed.


    The new TV has internet on it! And is it's own WiFi hot spot. So now we can get Netflix in there, where we couldn't before. The really strange thing? There are movies being offered in the bedroom that are not being offered in the living room!!  How does that happen? It's all the same account!!


   And I am thinking that at some point I can hook my laptop up to the TV, and see facebook, twitter and the like on a HUGE screen!! That would be fun! Imagine, a giant size farmville! This week, Hubs is working four nights. So I have four nights to explore the new TV and its possibilities!


    As a side note, whoever designed that particular plaza in Kingston was a genius! There is a Michaels Craft Store right next to a Gander Mountain!! And behind those stores in Walmart! The Sam's Club is across the parking lot from Michaels and Gander Mt. And yes indeed, we visited all four establishments. It is no small wonder that my legs and feet hurt! All that walking! And I am still a bit sore today.
